The third and fourth arrondissements share between them the one-time aristocratic le Marais, home to a substantial number of palatial residences. The Marais is the oldest historical district in Paris and it has recently become very popular. This area is alive with charming cafés, restaurants, parks, designer shops in rue des Francs Bourgeois and wonderful food stores all nearby.

For visitors who wish to explore Paris on foot, the marvellous Marais includes the Place des Vosges, often considered as one of the prettiest squares in Paris, the Picasso Museum, the Carnavalet Museum, the Centre Pompidou and of course the Louvre. In around 5 minutes on foot one is also at the Seine river, crossing onto the "Ile de la Cité" to visit Notre Dame and the "Ile Saint Louis". All major attractions in the center of Paris are thus within walking distance, including the Latin Quarter, near Notre Dame

Don't forget to check many antiques shops on Rue Saint Paul, and main stores on Rue de Rivoli : BHV and La Samaritaine...

fgs Description of the property

This apartment in the Marais has a very peaceful atmosphere. The building dates from the XVIII century and has a South exposure. It's clear and sunny (when the weather is generous). There is a nice view from the window over a green court. This building is protected as a historic monument under French patrimony.

As the story goes the inhabitants of 33 rue Charlot bear a fatal prediction weighing on their homes. According to a famous fortune-teller, their building will collapse the day the grain market, "marche des Enfants-Rouges" will be razed to the ground. This grain market is without any doubt the oldest market in Paris still in activity. Now is that a legend or reality?!

This is a newly renovated apartment with nice high French windows which provide a lot of light. The furnitures are very nice (teak & rosewood), country style and gives the feeling like one is in the country. The neighbourhood is also really quiet even when the windows are opened (unusual for Paris). One feels cozy after a tough day's walk every where around Paris.

There is a cable TV with many channels. The kitchen is equipped with the modern amenities like microwave oven, cooking range, etc. There are sufficient utensils for cooking and also sufficient crockery and cutlery.

Note: This is a "hot" property. The owner requires a reservation within the next 72 hours. If no formal reservation is made within that time the availability of the property cannot be guaranteed.

dfsTestimony

"I loved my stay at the Charlot apartment! Cozy, comfortable, clean and perfectly located; the price is just right! Thanks to Stephane, the owner, my return to Paris was like experiencing the city for the very first time. He provided insider tips for everything from dry cleaning to the hottest shoe designers; the hippest Moroccan restaurant to the most interesting exhibitions as well as the best views of Paris. All the amenities of the larger residence hotels, but much more personal and charming. I knew it was special when I wasn't ready to leave after a 6 week stay! That's a real indication that the apartment was a true "home away from home"! I highly recommend the flat and would gladly stay there again.
